What is a YouTube Channel ID?
A YouTube Channel ID is a unique 24-character alphanumeric string (usually starting with "UC") that YouTube uses internally to identify a channel. Unlike custom URLs, handles, or channel names, the Channel ID is permanent and never changes, even if the creator rebrands their channel.
Knowing a Channel ID is essential for developers working with the YouTube Data API, RSS feed readers, widget integrations, and marketing agencies needing precise channel targeting without relying on mutable usernames.

Can a YouTube Channel ID change?

Why does the ID start with "UC"?
"UC" stands for User Channel. YouTube uses these prefixes to differentiate entities in their database. For example, playlist IDs usually start with "PL".
